The very beautiful Elise, a former Miss Holland, married her beau, Andre, on the lawns of Sumaridge Wine Estate in Country Chic Style.  Andre, an ex South African works in the UK, and Elise travels between Holland and the UK with her career.

She chose wicker picnic baskets filled with cured meats, selected cheeses, pickles and homemade breads and preserves.  as their starter.  These were placed on picnic blankets with scattered cushions,  a few German trestle tables, and hay bales with cotton covers to create a Country look under a large bedouin tent.  Fairy lights and paper lanterns were strung for when night set in.  The wind was a challenge trying to keep the blankets from blowing away before the guests arrived, but a short while into the reception, it died down and we were blessed with a clear blue and warm sunshine.   Rustic rattan chairs where packed out for the ceremony with little vases filled with country flowers tied to form the aisle.  The colour scheme was duck egg blue, not the easiest colour to find decor in, but as I say, everything is possible, and we managed checkered picnic blankets and covers for the picnic baskets in her colour.  Little packs of wooden cutlery were sealed with their personalised stickers and placed  in the baskets.

The main course was an endless flow of floating mains served on wooden platters and little cones of fries in two specially made boards with cutouts and painted as the South African and Dutch flags.  Her father, an avid carpenter, made the boards in Holland for them.  Many of the guests were from abroad, so they stayed on for a few more days and enjoyed the spoils Hermanus has to offer.
