Fire and Ice
The Fireman’s ball was the prelude to their day of demonstrations, a very impressive Motorcade and team challenges to celebrate International Firefighters Day on 3 May 2014. This function was paid for by sponsors, so we were restricted to a tight budget, and had to make use of the donated flowers. This did not stop us from creating a WOW factor for the unsuspecting guests of honor. We made use of red LED lights for the fire effect and acrylic crushed ice, obviously for the ice effect, which filled the ballroom with a red glow and...

Our Bridal couple reside in Kathu, Northern Cape, but their original roots are from the coast, so they elected an intimate, Beach style, luncheon wedding. After meeting them on their visit to our magical town, the brief was simple, Orange, beach theme and ‘we love goldfish and flip flops’ and we’d love an Hermanus Wedding. Due to the age of many of their travelling guests, they opted not to get married on the beach but rather to have an intimate, comfortable venue and have their photographs taken on...

We were delighted to be awarded the tender for the Seda launch on 26th March 2014. Our brief was to arrange everything from inviting and monitoring guests, local media placement, stationery, name badges, information booklets, decor, catering, sound, photography, gifts and logistics for this event. We were to house the function in an enormous freeform tent outside but the weather was not playing in our favour. It was in the midst of our heaviest rains thus far. But, alas, on the Wednesday after the morning showers,...

Bosko Ministries International launched their new function venue on 16 February 2014. Their open-air chapel, with stone wall and reed ceiling, is set amount old pine trees, which is why it is called ‘La Pineta (meaning ‘pine grove’). After the mayor had cut the ribbon, an al fresco lunch was served. There is a ‘braai’ area if you wanted to have your ceremony outside, or you could make use of their banquet hall and fully equipped kitchen. The grass area would make a lovely picnic setting with mountains...

Robyn and Darryn tied the knot on 22nd February 2014 at Sumaridge Wine Estate on their perfectly manicured lawn overlooking the extensive dam with the Valley as the backdrop to this magical setting. After monitoring the weather, as we do with all our functions, watching the forecast change on a daily basis, and preparing our bride for Plan B, we were blessed with the perfect day. Canapes were enjoyed on the top section of the garden against the stone and ivy clad cellar. The catering was done on-site by the renowned Kevin Warwick, who, as...

This quote from our photographer Warren Williams, on Judy and Jo’s wedding of 22 February 2014 says it all ~ “No wedding is ever average. But to coin a phrase, this was not your average wedding. Not on your Nelly. Getting married at home is not only a bit unusual, but quite honestly, to pull it off properly is not an easy feat. You actually need a bit of vision. And you need class. And you need big, heaped shovel-loads of ‘goetspa.’ I was somewhat skeptical to say the least. Boy oh boy, what a day, what a treat,...

Our Gatsby Wedding of 22 February had a slight twist to the dramatic 20″s decor. Our bride who is not a flower lover at all, pleaded that I find her Hydrangeas. We ordered preserved hydrangeas from one of my suppliers in Durban as the season for these extraordinary blooms was over. Unfortunately, the thermostat of the drier was faulty and our blooms ‘burnt’, yep, poof!!! After hunting suburb to suburb and begging and pleading at the odd house with a bloom, we managed to collect a few… and alas, we managed our...

We had everything, all that was missing was the bride and groom, yep, you read correctly! At 6:30am we received an sms to say “Sorry, we won’t make it”. I immediately contacted all my service providers to advise them of our dilemma. Kevin of The Class Room, where the wedding was to be held, was devastated. He had all his food prepped, staff arranged and he had only received a deposit, so he would have been seriously ‘out of pocket’. At 11am, we decided to go ahead with the wedding anyway and see how...

This couple had a very intimate wedding ‘On The Rocks’ at Bientangs Cave in Hermanus. The are both from the UK and left everything for us to arrange as they arrived only a few days before ‘tying the knot’. The wind was howling, but the sun was shining and the sheer romance of the setting was enough to set the scene for a Perfect Wedding Day. The small group feasted on Seafood Platters and Champagne on the veranda ending with specially ‘made to order’ fruit cakes which the bride requested from the UK...
